ARTISOFT'S LANTASTIC(R) LOCAL AREA NETWORK V5.0 WINS PC MAGAZINE'S
1993 EDITORS' CHOICE AWARD FOR PEER-TO-PEER NETWORKS
Fifth Consecutive Year For Peer-To-Peer Award
(TUCSON, AZ -- May 4, 1993) -- Artisoft, Inc. announced
today that its LANtastic Local Area Network has won PC Magazine's
Editors' Choice Award for peer-to-peer networks for the fifth
consecutive year. This review of the top networks will appear in PC
Magazine's upcoming May 25, 1993 issue and is based on criteria such
as multiplatform connectivity, network management and Windows(TM)
integration. Seven leading peer-to-peer networking products were
reviewed, including Microsoft's Windows(TM) for Workgroups and
Novell's NetWare Lite(TM).
"Artisoft is honored to be recognized with this
distinguished award for the fifth year in a row," commented
Artisoft's Chairman and CEO, Jack Schoof. "It shows our ongoing
commitment to technologically superior products that are cost-
effective and easy-to-use. We look forward to another year of
continuing excellence."
"This is a peer-to-peer network for the real world; it
quickly and reliably brings DOS, Macintosh(R), Microsoft Windows, and
NetWare systems into the interoperability fold," states PC Magazine.
The LANtastic network's enhanced printing capabilities, ease-of-
installation and administration, strong benchmark test performance,
and connectivity to multiplatform environments are also cited as key
factors to its success.
"With features such as the Windows Network Scrapbook and
ACL groups, and with a wide range of options for features, like sound
and communications, LANtastic is swiftly closing the functionality
gap between dedicated-server networks and peer- to-peer LANs. Ease of
use and the excellent interface round out a powerful package," notes
PC Magazine. Other highlighted features include the LANtastic
network's flexible security options, strong management capabilities,
and options for innovative add-on packages.
This latest award brings the total number of national and
international industry awards for the LANtastic network to 53 to
date.
